Prostate Cancer Supplements That Work!

Prostate Cancer Supplements That Work!

Prostate cancer is a leading cancer killer in industrialized countries, affecting more than 500,000 men per year.(1)

During the past decade, awareness of this major issue has increased and research into this frightening disease continues.

In fact, two new published studies link overall nutritional health with the development of this health issue for men.

And as always, here's some more independent info not paid for or sponsored by the company.

A study published in the December, 2004, issue of Obesity Research asserts a connection between obesity and prostate cancer.(2)

Pedro Von Hafe, Henrique Barros, and colleagues from the Faculty of Medicine of Porto and the Hospital of São João, Porto, Portugal, concluded that previous studies that could not link obesity with prostate cancer were flawed because they did not distinguish between different types of fat tissue.

In their study regarding this health issue, Von Hafe and his associates factored the difference between subcutaneous fat, which is just below the skin, and visceral fat, which is located often unnoticed below the muscles surrounding vital organs.

Visceral fat is known to predispose individuals to cardiovascular and metabolic problems but had not previously been linked to this men's health issue!

In comparing 63 prostate cancer patients to 63 healthy males of similar age, height, and weight, the scientists found a significant difference in visceral fat levels.

While the increase in obesity does not appear to impact the progression of the disease, this study indicates that obesity may predispose one to prostate cancer.

Another exciting new study indicates supplementing the diet with phytosterols, selenium, green tea, and certain carotenoids may play a role in reducing the progression of this health issue.

Another independent piece of info:

The study, published in the February issue of The International Journal of Cancer, compared levels of prostate-specific antigen, referred to as your PSA score, in subjects before and after a six-week program that included taking supplements three times per day.

After six weeks, all subjects showed lower levels of hormones known to boost prostate cancer growth, an indication noted Dr. Ries Kranse that the risk of developing prostate cancer could be lowered.

Yet again as I carry out research on this company GNLD. I find another independent study that just re-fortifies what they have been saying for years.

The critical importance of a healthy diet, regular exercise, andhigh quality dietary supplements to better overall health.

The fact that researchers included phytosterols in this study isno surprise to the Scientific Advisory Board of GNLD, either. Tre en-en® Grain Concentrates, a unique combination of concentrated extracts from wheat, rice, and soybeans has been proven to enhance cellular efficiency by replacing lipids and sterols lost through poor diet and food processing.

Wow, so here we have independent researchers supporting what GNLD has been saying for over four decades!

Surf where you like, read whatever you like, but I personally don't know of any supplement company that has had the same product and that has been saying the same thing for over 40 YEARS.

Welcome back now more good news about Lycopene and this topic. Reports that show a connection between the carotenoid
Lycopene and prostate cancer risk reduction have appeared in scientific literature and popular press since the early 90’s. Epidemiological evidence resulting from studying men with and without this medical issue points to a strong protective effect.

One study showed that when Lycopene (from tomatoes) was present in the diet 4 to 5 times per week there was a 25% reduction in prostate cancer risk. Now a new study builds the case for prevention even stronger.

Published in the May 2006 issue of the journal Urological Oncology (vol. 23, pp. 383- 385) this latest 40-member, 2-year study, using tomato-derived Lycopene, showed a 42% decrease in prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in the blood and a corresponding 82% increase in blood Lycopene levels.

The “control” subjects from the same study, who did not receive Lycopene, showed a 23% climb in PSA levels and a 52% reduction in blood Lycopene levels.
Lead researcher Nayan Monhanty states, “This initial small trial has shown that Lycopene is an effective chemopreventive agent in preventing HGPIN (a precancerous prostate condition) from becoming prostate cancer.”

When the GNLD Scientific Advisory Board was developing Carotenoid Complex in the late 1980’s, Lycopene was one of the key carotenoids targeted and achieved for the formula.

Derived from tomatoes, the Lycopene in Carotenoid Complex® is exactly the form and source shown to have greatest biological effectiveness.

And as usual way ahead of the main stream they presented this initial research at the New York Academy of Sciences symposium “Carotenoids in Human Health” in 1991, as wasthe prostate protecting power of Lycopene.
