NO more Tax

Enough is enough when are these over paid buffoons in government going to get it. No more taxes are required . What is required is one flat tax my dad lived in Hong Kong for 30 years he moved here to Canada a few years ago but just got his last tax bill from the city of Hong Kong.

Acne
Let’s be honest… a woman’s skin (besides hair of course) is so Important to her general outlook and self-esteem. Over a year ago, I was so desperate for a solution for my adult acne that I had subscribed to the Pro-Active skin care line. It worked, the acne was gone, but I found that the regime was too harsh and drying over the course of a year, leaving my skin very ragged and dry. One evening I took a long hard look at my skin.
I admitted that I had to do something else that was not so harsh, and to think of the future of my skin, as I had just hit the 35+ stage of my life. While in California in November 2003, Nada and Tammy had come to my Mom’s to hold an in-house GNLD presentation. They visited with us for 3 days.
During this time I got to use their Nutriance skin care and was immediately impressed by what the products accomplished in so little time. Besides my skin’s acne and an overall dullness, I had a large patch of eczema below the corner of my mouth, and the products reduced it to a small dot in one application… literally!
When I returned to Canada, I asked my husband for the GNLD Nutriance skin care line for Christmas. I have been using the products daily, and have not since even been intrigued by other skin care lines, as this skin care system really does work and does do all the things it promises, too. My skin tone, clarity, texture, and elasticity have been renewed, rejuvenated and the acne and eczema remain at bay even through the most stressful of days.
It has been almost 2 months now, and my lines are certainly less pronounced, as an added bonus. Alergies
I have been taking GNLD products for many years now. I have definitely noticed that that products have helped to increase my immune system. I have been able to fight off bad colds and the flu for many years now. If I do get sick, it is a mild sore throat that lasts a few days and then is gone. As soon as I have signs of sickness I increase my vitamin c, garlic, vitamin a and antioxidants. This usually does the trick and chases the cold away.
I was also very prone to getting sinus infections. Signs of sinus infections are increased mucus discharge that is first clear and then turns bright green. In the past the only way I could get rid of it was with antibiotics, which I did not like to take.
When I read up on GNLD's Resp-Eleven, it stated that it is helpful for people prone to sinus infections. So I added Resp-Eleven to my program and would start taking it early fall before the cold season hit and right through until late spring.
This past winter I felt a cold coming on and this time it came with signs of an impending sinus infection. The first signs was clear mucus discharge and I knew if I did not take care of myself it could get worse. So I immediately increased my GNLD vitamins. I took extra vitamin c; 6-7 tablets, 3-4 carotenoids, 2-3 flavanoids, 5 vitamin a, 3-4 garlic and in addition 3-4 resp-eleven.
After 3 days I had nipped it in the bud, no sinus infection surfaced and my cold was on it's way out. I knew that the addition of the resp-eleven was my lifesaver here. It helped to fight off the sinus infection. I was so happy.
So I wanted to share this with those of you who may suffer from this problem. Add Resp-Eleven to your winter cold and flu preventative program. You will see the difference.

I have been living in downtown Toronto for 10 years now and I am also an ex-smoker. I walk a lot in the city and am around car pollution every day. Allergy Testimony
I developed environmental allergies shortly after moving to Mississauga. I had the skin test and found out that I reacted to most of the summertime ones plus mold and dust. Over the years I tolerated the needles, with no positive result. I mouth breath from spring to first frost. Winter was my best friend, although I would get a cold two or three times during the winter. I was taking antihistamines every four hours and in between plus a nose spray without any effect.
On one occasion I had to be treated with steroids for severe sinus problems.
My son introduced me to the GNLD products. Starting on Formula VI and Carotenoids I soon felt more energetic. Within two and one half weeks I realize that I have not taken any antihistamines and its now ten years later, allergies under control and no need for antihistamines. At the time I was also diagnosed with Osteoarthritis Because I was getting on in years I thought this is what life is going to be like. I have been a distributor for 15 years now and would like to share my story on Allergies..
I suffered from Allergies for years. When I started the GNLD products 15 years ago
(Editor's note) 15 years there people who have been taking these products for 20 - 25 - 30 - 35 - 40 and yes 45years. Thats a testimony in its self.
…I could not believe it…my allergies improved to a level where I did not need to use anti histamines!!!!!!!!!!
I used anti histamines year round…and really depended on them for sinus relief..

Just a note. Harry was in so much pain and handicapped with his Rheumatoid arthritis that he was unable to work in his mechanic’s business for months when we first met. B-complex aids arteries According to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine, taking B vitamins after angioplasty makes you about half as likely to have re-narrowing of the arteries.Researchers had 205 angioplasty patients take either B vitamins (folic acid, B-6 and B-]2) or a placebo pill for six months after the invasive treatment. Only 19.6% of those taking the B vitamins had further artery narrowing, compared to 37.6% of those on the placebo. The American Heart Association now A ntioxidants are now known to benefit / ^ several "aging conditions," including JL JLheart disease, cataracts and poor immunity. According to two recent studies, people with arthritis may also benefit from these free radical-fighting nutrients, which include selenium, an essential trace element, and vitamins A, C and E.
At Alexandria University in Egypt,researchers added antioxidants to the standard medical treatment of patients with rheuma- toid arthritis. In this trial,30 people were divided into three groups of 10. Group I received stand-) ard medical treatment only.
Groups II and III received standard treatment plus either an antioxidant combina-tion or 400 mg of vitamin E.
Within the first month, the antioxidant groups showed noticeable improvements in their symptoms. The control group, taking the standard ments by the end of the second month. By the end of the trial, test results for groups 11 and III indicated better control of the disease.
These clinical improvements indicated to the researchers that complementing standard treatment with antioxidants is worthwhile.
In Kiel, Germany, a group of researchers studied the impact of vitamins A, C, E and selenium on osteoarthritis in mice. The mice were fed a diet rich in vitamins A,C, E, B-2, B-6 and selenium, while a control group was not supplemented. After one year, the mice were tested for changes in the disease. The control group still had osteoarthritis lesions while the supplemented test mice had decreased osteoarthritis incidence by 65%. The researchers concluded that supple- menting with vitamins and selenium may be important in the prevention or therapy of osteoarthritis.

My name is Sheila,
Approximately 14 years ago I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. It struck me extremely quickly. This was just a year before I was to get married. I was so sick and crippled up that my partner had to at times carry me to the washroom, help in and out of bed and I had to take a leave of absence from work. I am not an unhealthy person by nature. Just previously that winter, I was down hill skiing. I also worked out regularly and ate properly. So you can imagine how devastated I was when everything started to fall apart.
I was so desperate to get myself better I tried just about everything the doctors could give me. Which in fact, were doing more damage to other parts of my body. I finally went to a natural path. For 1 year, I completely changed my diet, was hardly eating anything, and was placed on a number of so called supplements (alot were isolates) to replace the foods taken out of my diet.
I ended up losing 20 pounds and in the hospital.
This was not the route to take. I just went back to taking what the doctor told me to, but still kept looking for something that could help.

In the summer of 2003 I was introduced to GNLD nutritional supplements by my friend, Joanne. At that time I wasn't really interested in other products as I was already taking numerous vitamins/supplements and had been for about 20 years. However, since March 2003 I had been on medication for high cholesterol and a hiatus hernia. I also had arthritis in my right knee, back problems and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). My parents had started having some of these problems in their late 70's and here was in my late 40's which worried me.

If you live just a few miles north of Quito, Ecuador, the equator may run right through your back yard. In that case, you probably get enough daily sun exposure to qualify as one of the least vitamin D deficient people on Earth.
The downside: You might easily get too much sun.
Last week, in the e-Alert "No Shrinking Violet" , I told you about research that indicates the amount of sun exposure we need in order for the body to manufacture adequate amounts of vitamin D. And in that same e-Alert I noted the three nutrients that relieve stress to the skin (vitamins C and E, and folic acid) and could even help prevent the development of skin cancer.
But for many, the time for initial precautions long passed; those sunburns they experienced as children in Ecuador, or Phoenix, or Miami, or any spot on the globe where sunshine is abundant, laid the groundwork for precancerous lesions. For these folks the nutrients mentioned above are still very important. But if another vitamin is added, there's a chance that skin cancer can still be avoided.
When skin is damaged by occasional sunburns the stage is set for the development of actinic keratoses (AK) later in life. AK shows up as lesions that are precursors of the two most common types of cancer: nonmelanoma squamous cell or basal cell cancer. More than a million new cases of these cancers are diagnosed in the U.S. every year.
But a new study demonstrates that if you're one of the millions who have AK skin damage, you may substantially lower your risk of developing skin cancer by increasing your intake of vitamin A.
In the journal Clinical Cancer Research, scientists at the Arizona Cancer Center, University of Arizona (UA), note that a previous study conducted at UA showed that vitamin A supplements significantly reduced the risk of squamous cell skin cancer in patients with moderately severe AK. The vitamin A dose used in that study was 25,000 IU. So the UA team designed another study to test higher doses for both safety and efficacy. Nearly 130 subjects with severely sun-damaged skin on their forearms were divided into four groups to receive daily doses of 25,000, 50,000, or 75,000 IU of vitamin A, or a placebo. Biopsies were conducted on the damaged skin of each patient before the study period began, and again one year later at the end of the study.
The effects of vitamin A supplementation were dramatic: • Placebo subjects: 25 percent had less skin damage when their pre-test and post-test biopsies were compared • 25,000 IU subjects: 65 percent had less skin damage • 50,000 IU subjects: 81 percent had less skin damage • 75,000 IU subjects: 79 percent had less skin damage Needless to say, the researchers concluded that 50,000 IU of vitamin A is the maximum daily dose required for the most effective protection for sun-damaged skin. No significant toxic reactions were reported in any of the four groups.
It's an A thing Vitamin A is essential to the health of your eyes, bones, skin and immune system. Growth and healing also benefit from the antioxidants that this key vitamin supplies. Here are some vitamin A basics: • Fruits and vegetables with orange and yellow coloring, and green leafy vegetables contain beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A • The body poorly converts beta-carotene into vitamin A • The best source of vitamin A is animal products, such as eggs and liver • Cod liver oil is an excellent natural source of vitamin A • The problems with vitamin A toxicity are associated with supplements of synthetic vitamin A taken in high doses Studies show that smokers with a high intake of beta-carotene are at greater risk of developing lung cancer. As for just about everyone else, it's almost impossible to overdo vitamin A consumption, according to HSI Panelist Allan Spreen, M.D. In fact, Dr. Spreen tells me there are only about two-dozen recorded cases of people who took too much vitamin A and suffered any distress whatsoever. Dr. Spreen suggests that 10,000 IU of beta-carotene vitamin A per day is adequate for most people.

Even though it is biologically gifted to perform thousands of functions, the brain’s structure depends totally on fats in the diet. In other words, if good fats are not supplied in the diet, cerebral structure can be altered and if it changes, its functioning changes too.
This is where the problem and the potential are so closely intertwined. The average person, living on a modern diet, obtains nearly 40% of his calories from fat. Unfortunately, this abundance has not been translated into an advantage for the nervous system; on the contrary, the benefit is nullified because the fats so desperately needed by the brain are not consumed.
As we learned in the forth part of this book, the types of fats consumed have drastically changed in the last decades, There is an estimated 80% decrease of brain fats consumption, secondary to a shift to animal, trans-fats and processed foods. The Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acid ratio used to be 1:1; now it has been estimated to have risen to 30:1.
Highly specific fats required by the brain, along with erratic dietary habits, lead to an unbalanced situation within our systems. There is plenty of evidence showing that we are consuming a diet with fats not appropriate for building or maintaining an optimally functioning nervous system.
This could be the common denominator to neurological, behavioral, learning and memory disorders which, until now, were treated with psychotropic drugs while ignoring their relationship to dietary fat.
The potential for better health and longer life is dependent on our correct understanding of this new knowledge, effecting dietary changes that could assure cellular functioning. The good news is that adult performance and even cerebral disorders can and should be improved if appropriate changes are implemented now. The latest scientific news is telling us that omega-3 fatty acids are even more beneficial than previously thought. From decades of research, scientists have established the benefits experienced when omega-3 fatty acids are part of our diet.We know that omega-3s play a critical role in the optimal function of heart, blood and blood vessels, balanced auto-immune response, and brain development.1Now, recent studies have confirmed the benefits of fish oil on mental health conditions, as well, including Alzheimer’s and depression.

A recent study at Tufts University in Boston has revealed some exciting news regarding the link between omega-3 fats in the diet and the risk of dementia in elderly men and women.
Researchers used a questionnaire to determine the diet of a large group of men and women whose average age was 75. For the next ten years, the test group ate a diet rich in DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, including approximately three meals of fish per week.2 The results showed a significant decrease in the onset of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, described as a “…48% reduction in risk of dementia in elderly men and women.” 2 According to Dr. Ernst Schaefer, senior scientist and director of the Lipid Metabolism Laboratory at Tufts University, these results are consistent with a previous study, which showed that in a sample of adults aged 65-94, those who ate fish at least once a week had a 60% lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s.2 “These dramatic results show how older adults can play a significant role in their neurological health by increasing their intake of fish, fish oil, or especially DHA,” noted Schaefer. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) has been the subjects of thousands of scientific studies.3
That’s A Lot Of Fish!
Although the necessity for omega-3’s in the diet is well documented, many people find the recent recommendation of the American Heart Association to eat oily fish at least two times per week to be impractical. For this reason, many people are choosing to take dietary supplements containing these critical fatty acids.

JAMA AND HARVARD RESEARCHERS RECOMMEND ALL ADULTS USE DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS

Drug firms 'Hype Up Diseases to Boost Sales' By RICHARD SHEARS, Daily Mail 08:35am 11th April 2006
Drug companies are inventing diseases to sell more of their products, it has been claimed. Scientists have accused major pharmaceutical firms of "medicalising" problems like high cholesterol or the symptoms of the menopause in a bid to increase profits.
Experts from around the world will meet in Australia today to discuss what they have labeled "disease-mongering".
The group, which includes experts from Britain, will gather in Newcastle, New South Wales, where researchers have been examining the issue.
David Henry and Ray Moynihan, of Newcastle University, claim the industry is exaggerating conditions and turning them into something more serious.
Female sexual dysfunction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and "restless legs" syndrome have all been promoted by the pharmaceutical industry in the hope of selling more drugs, they say. High cholesterol and osteoporosis-are being described as diseases in their own right, the researchers claim, turning healthy people into patients. In turn, this wastes precious resources and can cause medically-induced harm.
Drugs prescribed for 'shyness'
Even shyness is routinely presented as a "social anxiety disorder" resulting in the person being prescribed anti-depressants. In the case of male sexual disfunction, the researchers say, Viagra is promoted as not only a genuine treatment for erectile dysfunction but also a lifestyle improver. The two men make their claims in the Public Library of Science Medicine journal.
They accuse drug companies of funding disease-awareness campaigns through the media that are more about selling drugs than helping or educating the public.
"Like the marketing strategies that drive it, disease-mongering poses a global challenge to those interested in public health, demanding in turn a global response," they say.
Mr Moynihan and Mr Henry say that, in their view, disease mongering is the selling of sickness that widens the boundaries of illness and grows markets for those who sell and deliver treatments.
"It is exemplified most explicitly by many pharmaceutical industry funded disease-awareness campaigns, more often designed to sell drugs than to illuminate or to inform or educate about the prevention of illness or the maintenance of health," they add. Conference organisers say they will try to draw a line between "market-driven exercises and legitimate disease-awareness programmes". 'Miracle solutions'
Drugs companies hit back last night.

"We utterly refute any suggestion that we would in any way hype or overplay the very real needs of patients that are treated all over the world.
"One of the exciting things about medical science is that we are finding new solutions to ailments or problems people have, and this is something good we can offer." Pfizer, which makes Viagra, said: "We would refute accusations that the pharmaceutical industry is medicalising society. Treatments that can make serious and potentially life-threatening conditions better should surely be welcomed.
"Pfizer would only promote prescription medicines to health care professionals, and only in line with what licensing bodies have outlined, for them to use their clinical judgment." And here we go again with more totally independent information on a topic important to women's health. Approximately 150,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with colorectal cancer each year — and half of them are women.1
According to a recent study conducted at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center, calcium supplementation can significantly reduce therisk of colon cancer, and the combination ofdietary and supplemental calcium resulted inthe greatest effect.
While women consuming more than 800 milligrams of dietary calcium each day reduced their risk of colon cancer by 26%, women who consumed more than 800 milligrams of calcium through a combination of diet and supplements reduced their risk of colon cancer by 46%!
“It is especially notable that the risk reduction was present regardless of the source of the calcium, and that simultaneously consuming high levels of calcium from both diet and supplements further reduced risk,” said Dr. Andrew Flood of the University of Minnesota Cancer Center and School of Public Health.
Dr. Flood continued, “These observations suggest that it was the calcium per se, and not merely dairy productsor some other variable, that accounted for thereduction in risk.”
The data from this study is substantial:
More than 45,000 women were included in the study, which lasted ten years. Dr. Flood states that more research is needed to determine specifically how calcium works to prevent this disease. (Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death in the United States.) One theory Flood offers is the idea that, “Calcium has a direct impact on a whole series of biochemical pathways within the cells

that line the colon and rectum. These pathways play important roles in regulating how these cells grow and mature, and thus can be important components of the cancer process.”
In addition to cancer prevention, calcium has long been linked to the prevention of osteoporosis, and new research indicates that calcium supplements should begin at an earlier age than previously believed.
Over a period of seven years, Dr. Velimir Matkovic, Director of the Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Center and the Bone and Mineral Metabolism Laboratory at Ohio State University,2 conducted a clinical trial of girls aged eight through thirteen to determine the impact of calcium supplementation on bone density.3 Dr.Matkovic explains,
“The pubertal growth spurt accounts for about 37 percent of the gain in the entire adult skeletal mass, meaning inadequate calcium intake during the period compromises the bone mineral accumulation rate.”
Researchers found that calcium supplementation significantly increased bone mass development.
Of the 354 girls in the study, the calcium-supplemented group showed a faster rate of bone mass development.3 These findings suggest that elevated calcium use by pre-adolescent girls is likely to help prevent fractures and osteoporosis later in life.“Because most bone mass is accumulated during this phase of growth, preadolescence may represent the time of highest need for calcium in a female’s lifetime,” concludes Matkovic.4

Welcome to the Bone & Joint Decade!
One area of great interest today is Bone and Joint Diseases. People are growing older and at the same time they are increasing their physical activity. Physical activity is an important behavior for overall health and well being but it puts greater demands on our bones and joints.
The combination of these two factors sets us on a collision course with pain and suffering that will affect the well-being of tens of millions and push health care cost further into the stratosphere.
To create public awareness and focus attention on this dilemma, the United States, governments and institutions around the world proclaimed that the first decade of the 21st century would be the Bone and Joint Decade.
Their message is simple; the problem with bone and joints is real and it’s going to affect all of us in some way, but there are things we can and should be doing. Osteoarthritis: is everyone going to get it?Osteoarthritis (OA) is a “wear and tear” disease that robs cartilage from joints throughout the body.
The medical community calls OA a “universal disease” because all the evidence shows that essentially everyone is at risk of getting it. Indeed, it’s already a widespread and growing health care crisis, affecting more than 70 million in North America alone, adding billions in health care costs.
Osteoarthritic bone and joint deterioration is primarily caused by: repetitive motion and physical stress associated with athletic activity; being significantly overweight; trauma from accidents or injury, and aging.
The underlying biochemistry of prevention and correction is the body’s natural cartilage creation, maintenance and repair capacities, all of which are dependent on an abundant supply of their primary building material, glucosamine. Science finds the nutritional solution. Because of the widely broadcast knowledge about the need for a calcium rich diet, to first build and then maintain healthy bone density throughout life, dietary Osteoporosis prevention is an effective, everyday practice of millions.
Now leading edge science surrounding bone and joints tells us we can do the same for its sister disease Osteoarthritis. The first studies showing a connection between glucosamine and joint repair/pain reduction took place in Italy in the early 1980’s (Drovanti, et al., Clin Ther 1980; 3: 260-272). The results showed for subjects given a laboratory prepared version of glucosamine sulfate, joint pain significantly lowered in as little as 7 days and restriction of active movement lowered in 14 days.
Consistent adverse side effects in the gastrointestinal tract in this research and others that followed into the 1990’s brought into question the appropriateness of glucosamine supplementation within the realms of bone and joint research and caused some researchers to look to intramuscular injection as a means of delivery.
In 1994, German scientists (Reichelt, et al., Arzneimittelforschung 1994; 44(1):75-80) found that 55% of patients suffering with knee osteoarthritis who were injected with glucosamine sulfate responded positively to the treatment.
Once again however, adverse reactions were an issue, including transient nausea and vomiting, even though the material was injected into the muscle. More recent research utilizing the hydrochloride form of glucosamine showed the same functional benefits without the adverse side effects. Australian researchers reporting the British Journal of Sports Medicine (Braham, et al., Br J Sports Med 2003; 37:45-49) noted that the beneficial effect to those receiving the glucosamine hydrochloride supplement increased over time in this 12 week study. At week four, 36% reported some degree of pain relief. By week eight that number had grown to 68% and by week 12 fully 88% of test subjects reported benefits. Adverse side effects were not an issue and were essentially the same as those taking a placebo.
The latest research in this realm of bone and joints confirms Glucosamine works. In the March/April 2004 issue of the journal Menopause, researchers reported that a 1,500 mg. dose of glucosamine stopped cartilage loss in a 3 year study of women while for those receiving a placebo cartilage destruction continued. In addition, pain bone and joint function significantly improved among the women taking glucosamine while those taking the placebo continued to worsen. In a summary review of double-blind, placebo controlled research investigating the effects of long-term treatment and the progression of knee osteoarthritis (the most common form) published in the June 2005 Annals of Pharmacotherapy (39(6):1080- 1087) Poolsup, et al., reported that in all instances they investigated, glucosamine supplementation was more effective than placebos in stopping joint destruction (the risk of disease progression was reduced 54%), and concluded that the evidence shows that glucosamine is effective and safe in slowing or halting the progression and improving the symptoms of osteoarthritis.
There is no question that in the area of bone and joints glucosamine works.

In response to the growing occurrence of OA related pain and discomfort, pharmaceutical companies have produced a wide range of pain relievers including NSAID’s (non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs) such as ibuprofen and COX-2 (cyclo-oxygenase- 2) inhibitors* such as Celebrex or Vioxx.
Though they do offer the benefit of pain relief, like a lot of drugs they all address the symptom but not the cause.
Several studies conducted on 1,500 mg/day glucosamine supplementation shows that pain relief benefits from cartilage repair are ultimately greater than drugs alone (Qui, et al., Arzneimittelforschung 1998; 48:469-474. Rovati, et al., Second International Congress of the Osteoarthritis Research Society, 1994. Muller-Fassbender, et al.,Osteoarthritis Cartilage 1994;2:61-69). (*COX-2 inhibitors have been implicated in increased cardiovascular disease risk in users.)
Additionally, when it comes to pain management for osteoarthritis, natural alternatives offer both short-term relief and long-term advantage.
For example, the herb Boswellia serrata has been shown in a double-blind crossover study to provide anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and analgesic activities. Similarly, Bromelain, an enzyme extract of pineapple, was shown first in 1990 (Planta Medica 1990 Jun; 56(3):249-253) and later in 1999 (In Vivo 1999 Jan-Feb; 13(1):7-12) to provide anti-inflammatory activity.
Neither has been shown to contribute to any of the adverse reactions associated with drugs.

Vitamin-D can save your hips! Researchers in Scotland reported in the July 2005 issue of the journal Current Medical Research and Opinion that in essentially every (97.8%) hip fracture case they investigated (548), the patients were deficient, often severely, in vitamin-D. In about 25% of the subjects, vitamin-D levels were to low to detect accurately. In their report, the researchers concluded that vitamin-D represents a correctable risk factor for bone fragility as we age, particularly as it relates to the risk of hip fracture.
Your “creaking” joints may be a sign you’re rusting. Researchers at the Duke University Medical Center have been tracking down free radicals as accomplices in the biological processes that rob us of joint health.
In their report (Matrix Biology, 21(2):175-184, 2002) they point out that Vitamin-C can not only slow the progression of Osteoarthritis by blocking free radical damage, but it also stimulates collagen synthesis, an important aspect of cartilage renewal.More good news about vitamin-C and your joints.
Researchers from the Framingham Osteoarthritis Cohort Study linked its antioxidant power to a reduced risk of Osteoarthritis (OA) when they showed that people in the middle and top intake levels (top 60%) exhibited a three-fold reduced risk of OA progression,which they tied to a reduced risk of cartilage loss.
Omega-3s: Good for bones & good for joints. The benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for arthritis sufferers have been well established for years. Omega-3s reduce pain and inflammation by rebalancing inflammation/anti-inflammation systems in the body (Calder, et al., Dietary modification of inflammation with lipids. Proceedings of the Nutrition Society, 16(3):345-358, 2002).
Now new evidence says it’s good for bone too. In a recent presentation to the World Health Organization,
Purdue University Professor Bruce Watkins states:
“Our lab and others have shown that omega-3 fatty acids help promote bone formation.”

Depression Why does nobody Understand?

Depression...Why Does Nobody Understand?
On researching this topic of depression I started to get a little confused. If I'm getting confused researching the subject what must it be like for people who suffer with these problems?
Let me show what I mean. Here is the Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia entry on this common problem:
"Depression, in psychiatry, a symptom of mood disorder characterized by intense feelings of loss, sadness, hopelessness, failure, and rejection. The two major types of mood disorder are unipolar disorder, also called major depression, and bipolar disorder, whose sufferers are termed manic-depressive (see bipolar disorder). Other types of depression are recognized, with characteristics similar to the major mood disorders, but not as severe: they are adjustment disorder with depression, dysthymic disorder, and cyclothymic disorder.
Close to 20% of Americans are likely to suffer major depression at some time, and women tend to be more susceptible to the disorder than men. Major depression is likely to interfere significantly with everyday activity, with symptoms including insomnia, irritability, weight loss, and a lack of interest in outside events. The disorder may last several months or longer — and may recur — but it is generally reversible in the short run."
Let's stop there as the entry then goes on to discuss all sorts of different types of this condition.
So the first interesting thing I noticed is the entry mentions this is reversible in the short run as well as the numbers affected - 20% of Americans, that’sapproximately 40 MILLION PEOPLE.
Oh my word what are we doing about this epidemic? I was shocked when I did the math and I only worked on the population of America being 200 million. It's probably closer to 300 million now.
So I did some more research and it would appear that the following is the progression that has taken place.
Let’s go back in time about 10 years. The number one complaint heard by doctors was fatigue. "Doc I just seem to be tired all the time."
Today it would appear the number one complaint heard by doctors is "I am depressed."
Is there a link or is depression a virus that can be transmitted from one person to another?Obviously not and I don’t wish to appear simplistic but surely there has to be something in common amongst all these people. I mean can they all be suffering from lack of money or the loss of a loved one?
As we already know, since the 1900's manufacturers have been stripping foods of certain components to increase shelf life.
Bread that stays "fresh" on the counter for two weeks,as an example.
So could it be diet or a gap in diet that is helping this depression bug along?
Let’s look a little further into this. Medical evidence is currently, and has been for some time, stating that depressive conditions may be connected to deficiencies in the neurotransmitters - norepinephrine and serotonin. Hold on here, neurotrans- mitters? Would that involve cells? You had better believe it! Now we are talking my language as you have seen from the page on Chronic Fatigue cells. This is our thing man and in fact the supplement that works mentions in the information on it the use for neurotransmitters. And in fact if we go back to the 50’s when the scientist were experimenting with people with chronic fatigue they also used patients who were depressed and had great results.
Now if you are one of these millions of people or you know somebody who is starting out on this very lonely road of depression. I urge you as strongly as I possibly can before you get into the terrible cycle of anti-depressant drugs like a personal friend of mine did, to read the following story.
(What follows is a true story)
A friend of ours was on two different types of anti-depression medicines and one of these was making her throw up so she was also on anti-throwing-up medication, and a few other things linked to this depression.
